Our Heritage

A Legacy Woven Through Generations

For over three decades, ZarinDastan has been the bridge between the ancient artisan traditions of Persia and discerning collectors worldwide. Based in Fasa, Fars Province—the cultural heartland of Iran—we work directly with master craftsmen whose skills have been passed down through countless generations. Every piece we export tells a story of cultural preservation, meticulous craftsmanship, and unwavering authenticity. From hand-knotted Persian rugs that take months to complete, to intricate Minakari enamelwork that requires years to master, we curate only the finest examples of Persian artistic heritage. Our mission transcends commerce. We are guardians of an endangered art form, providing sustainable livelihoods for artisan communities while bringing museum-quality pieces to homes, galleries, and design projects across the Middle East, Europe, and beyond.

Three Generations of Mastery

Our artisans have inherited techniques that date back centuries. From grandfather to father to son, the knowledge of natural dyes, traditional patterns, and meticulous hand-knotting is preserved and perfected with each generation. This living tradition is what makes every ZarinDastan piece irreplaceable.

Our Home

From Fasa to the World

Fasa, nestled in the heart of Fars Province, Iran, has been a center of Persian craftsmanship for millennia. This ancient city, with its rich cultural heritage and proximity to historic Persepolis, provides the perfect environment for our artisan workshops.

Here, surrounded by the same landscapes that inspired Persian miniature paintings and poetry, our craftsmen create pieces that capture the soul of Iran. The natural materials—wool from local shepherds, minerals for dyes, wood from regional forests—all contribute to the authentic character of our work.

Our Process

From concept to your home, every step is executed with precision and care

01

Design & Inspiration

Traditional patterns are selected or custom-designed, honoring centuries-old motifs while accommodating contemporary aesthetics.

02

Material Selection

Only the finest natural materials are chosen—handspun wool, silk, natural dyes derived from plants and minerals.

03

Hand Production

Master artisans begin the meticulous work. A single Persian rug can take 3-12 months, with thousands of knots tied by hand daily.

04

Quality Control

Our quality assurance team meticulously reviews every item, ensuring that it reflects the highest standards of authenticity, precision craftsmanship, material excellence, and refined artistic detail.

05

International Shipping

Carefully packaged and insured, your piece begins its journey from Fasa to your doorstep, anywhere in the world.

What our clients say about their ZarinDastan experience

Mariam Al-Hammadi

I wanted something that would make our living room feel like home, not a showroom. This rug did exactly that. The colours are lovely in daylight, and I keep noticing little details I missed the day before.

For our majlis, the rug needed to feel welcoming without overpowering the room. The piece we chose has that balance. Rich colours, a beautiful pattern, and a presence that brings the whole seating area together. A very satisfying choice.

What won me over was the colour palette. The softer tones work beautifully with contemporary furniture, while the woven detail adds depth. It is the sort of piece I enjoy designing around, rather than simply adding at the end.

I picked a wooden serving bowl, thinking it would come out when guests visited. Turns out we use it almost every day. The grain is beautiful, it feels lovely in the hand, and it makes even a simple table look special.

Some pieces ask you to slow down and look closer. This rug is one of them. I love following the pattern and finding small variations in the weave. It brings a quiet character to my apartment that I truly appreciate.

I tend to choose fewer things and keep them for longer. This handwoven rug fits that approach beautifully. The pattern feels balanced, the texture is pleasing, and it sits comfortably alongside the simple oak furniture in our home.

The enamelled plate was meant to be a gift for my sister. Then I opened the box and wanted one for myself! The blue details are gorgeous, and she has already given it pride of place on her shelf.
